Opaque Black Enamels
Fire at 1450°F (780ºC) for 2½ minutes.
1990 is technically a deep 'transparent' black. If applied thin or over-fired or ground thin and re-fired, it takes on a dark transparent blue look. This black is recommended as a base enamel for the grisaille technique.
1995 is a very opaque black, but does not have the intensity or depth of black 1990 or 1996.
1996 is technically a deep 'transparent' black. If applied thin or over-fired or ground thin and re-fired it takes on a dark transparent green look. It leaves no bluish cast if fired thinly or over-fired.
1997 is a crackle base coat. It gives crackles when used in combination with a top coat of liquid form enamel colours.
1998 is a soft black.
